The client:Smadar Tzook, An Artist and Curator.
The need: Preserving art galleries, and making them more accessible, across time and space and for various demographics.
The solution: Smadar has created 360° 3D photographes that map different exhibitions. Sofi developed a virtual reality web application, that allows visitors to explore galleries over a city map, and present information about it.
Smadar Tzook is an artist with vast experience in art exhibitions and gallery design. Smadar had dreamed about the project for many years. While creating her MVP she received sponsorship from the “Ariel” company and the Jerusalem Municipality.
Art exhibitions are replaced quickly, with no ability to re-experience and preserve them once they are done. Smadar wanted to make those exhibitions accessible to a variety of audiences: people who cannot arrive physically to the gallery such as the elderly and people living in the periphery of Israel. An additional request was to document the exhibition, which can facilitate re-living the exhibition, even after it’s been closed. This was a fascinating project, creating an applicable visual language into a 360°, 3D navigational map.
Our aim was to generate a live, real tour experience. Creating a virtual reality art tour, one that simulates actively strolling around galleries, cities, and venues. We developed an augmented reality sphere which holds endless mysterious venues that host urban galleries. We created a virtual space that catalogs art galleries within municipalities, allowing an online effortless and aesthetic strolling experience. Our communication with Smadar was ongoing and attentive, and we made sure that all her requests were fully met.
